Marketing Trip to the USA and Canada
During the first 2 weeks of June 2008, our Client Relationship Director, Melanie Troiano was travelling in North America visiting cities including Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Boston and New York together with the head of Inward Investment of HSBC, Nick Stephens and Steven Ireland one of the Business Development Managers for East of England International.
The main purpose of the trip was as a result of two partnership events being organised as a result of Artaius’ contact with Fasken Martineau Law firm in London. Fasken have a large Canadian presence and agreed to host a “Doing business in the UK” Seminar at their offices in Toronto and Montreal. Through Artaius’ own links with HSBC, East of England International and UK Trade & Investment in Toronto we were able to put a seminar programme together with Fasken Martineau with the aim of attracting potential Canadian companies who were looking at the UK market place as part of their International business development strategy. The Montreal event was attended by the British Consol General for Montreal together with the ex Canadian Ambassador to the USA.
Melanie Troiano says “being in North America for the purpose of the presentations gave us the opportunity of catching up with existing clients, which is an important part of the service we offer. E-mails and telephone calls are great but there is nothing like a face to face meeting to really help to gel a relationship.”
The trip also enables Artaius to continue to build the relationship within Integra International, our International network of accountants of which we are members. Melanie says “our contacts in the overseas offices of Integra have been invaluable to us in the past, whether it be for a UK company with a US subsidiary where accounts and tax filings need to be done locally in the US or for a UK subsidiary of a Canadian company who needs a French payroll to be maintained. The global network we belong to enables us to deliver a global accounting solution to our UK and Overseas clients alike.”
During the trip Melanie was also able to create new links with other government Trade and Investment teams with a view of working together in the future, which in turn has lead to Artaius initiating the hosting of a trade delegation from the Canada Technology Triangle in November 2008.
Opportunities also arose whilst in Boston and New York to meet directly with companies that had started the planning process to enter the UK market place in the hope that Artaius could be of some assistance to them.
Artaius are now planning to visit Australia and New Zealand early 2009 where we already have a growing client base, in order to strengthen similar links to government agencies in the southern hemisphere and to hopefully create new strategic alliances which will hopefully attract more business.
