“One of the best decisions we have ever made” is how CUSTOM Security Solutions’ Tony Amorelli describes selecting Artaius to guide the company through a challenging transfer from manual accounting to Sage.
Established in June 2000, CUSTOM specialises in the design, installation and service of electronic security systems, employing around 20 people at its Hertford offices. With turnover continuing to increase, Tony and his co-directors recognised that the business needed to upgrade its accounting systems from the manual spreadsheets developed in-house to the much more sophisticated and flexible Sage software.
Tony says: “We knew it wasn’t going to be the easiest transfer so we looked around for a company to help us. We had great difficulty in finding anyone until our bank manager recommended Artaius.”
“Following an exploratory meeting with their client relationship director Melanie Troiano to discuss what we needed to do and what we wanted to achieve, Artaius said they could help with the complete package – supply, set-up, implementation, data transfer and training.”
Artaius’ Ashok Nerurker played a key role in the project, which took place in February 2008 and included extensive training for six members of staff and setting up a mock-up system prior to the Sage system going live. Initially, Ashok spent two or three days each week at CUSTOM, gradually reducing his presence as the Sage system became established.
Now Artaius continues to come in once a quarter to double-check VAT returns and provide any extra training necessary. Tony says: “Their continued involvement is very helpful.”
Looking back, Tony says: “We initially approached the process with great concern but although we originally planned to keep both systems working side by side for a time, by the end of the first month we were totally live.”
